TPS and AppBlocks® for Precision Agriculture

Getting accurate and timely data on environmental parameters is vital for making informed decisions. By using intelligent monitoring and control solutions, farm owners can streamline daily tasks, minimize resource wastage, and maintain better consistency in crop outputs.

Tibbo Project System (TPS) offers a versatile and cost-effective way to automate traditional outdoor farming. At its core is a line of programmable boards designed to work with I/O modules called Tibbits, as well as a broad range of third-party sensors and actuators. TPS devices can be assembled with only the Tibbits you need, making it easy to tailor each solution to specific farm requirements. Coupled with the no-code AppBlocks Platform, TPS becomes an even more powerful tool for building sophisticated monitoring and control solutions, allowing you to adapt your farm’s technology as operational demands evolve—all without traditional programming.

Temperature Monitoring

Hot or cold spells can reduce crop yield or even damage entire fields, making air and soil temperature monitoring vital for traditional outdoor farming. TPS devices can incorporate Tibbit sensor modules or work with third-party temperature sensors, such as analog, Modbus, 1-wire, and I2C devices. By configuring temperature thresholds in your application, you can trigger alerts when air or soil temperature becomes inhospitable. Thanks to the visual application-building approach of the AppBlocks platform, you can set up temperature monitoring without prior programming skills.

Soil Monitoring

Knowing soil parameters like moisture, pH, conductivity, and temperature helps farmers optimize fertilization and irrigation schedules. TPS supports Modbus soil sensors supplied by third parties, while the AppBlocks no-code platform simplifies the Modbus sensor integration process, reducing the complexity to just entering a few parameters.

Liquid Level Sensing

Storage ponds, water tanks, and irrigation channels are crucial for maintaining the water supply in traditional outdoor farms. TPS devices seamlessly interface with ultrasonic or float-based liquid-level sensors. Once the sensors are connected, you can set up easy-to-follow flowcharts in AppBlocks to trigger notifications if levels dip or rise beyond acceptable ranges, all done through a drag-and-drop interface.

Watering Control

Reducing excess water consumption is a key objective in precision agriculture. Strict water dosing can also be used strategically to improve crop quality, for example, in grape production. Irrigation is largely a schedule-based activity requiring a data table to keep daily schedules. AppBlocks, the no-code development platform, greatly simplifies the creation of database tables and automatically creates web pages for users to work with them. As a result, a simple schedule-based application can be built in minutes rather than days. Watering logic can be further enhanced by introducing a feedback loop in the form of moisture sensors, which interface with TPS devices via the Modbus interface.

No-Code Development with AppBlocks

No-code software development is the future because no one has the time to write and debug complex applications line-by-line.

Enter AppBlocks, a no-code, flowchart-based, in-browser application development platform for TPS and other Tibbo OS (TiOS) devices. With AppBlocks, you can both configure TPS hardware and Tibbits for purchasing, as well as create applications for your configured hardware.

Don’t write your apps, draw them! Point and click through the entire development process. When your app is ready for testing, upload it onto a TPS device and debug it directly from the browser. AppBlocks generates functional Tibbo BASIC applications that are ready for deployment directly
